Hearing Fees
IMPORTANT CHANGE REGARDING EDR HEARING FEES
Among this Department’s most important objectives in administering the grievance procedure and its hearing process has been to assure that hearing officer services have been cost effective for agencies. For that reason, a flat rate fee schedule was established for both full-time and part-time hearing officers. This flat rate has helped to stabilize costs and establish a high degree of budget predictability.
In light of increasing travel and personnel costs, for all hearings taking place on or after July 1, 2007, the flat rate fee amount per hearing will be increased to $1,450. This flat fee will cover all services and disbursements incurred in conducting an employee grievance hearing, including travel and office expenses.
Grievances that are settled or concluded prior to the hearing will continue to be billed on a prorated basis as before. If a grievance is settled or concluded after the appointment and opening of a file, 10% of the hearing fee will be charged; after the prehearing conference is scheduled, 25% of the hearing fee will be charged; after the prehearing conference is conducted, 50% of the hearing fee will be charged; and if after the hearing officer travels to the hearing site, 100% of the hearing fee will be charged.
